"NEW DIRECTIONS FOR A NEW EUROPE IN A NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD"

Applications are invited for the remaining vacancies on the 8th Jean Monnet Summer School at the University of Limerick
This year the Summer School assesses the EU25 one year after enlargement and looks beyond its borders to the "new neighbourhood" to the east and south: the Mediterranean; the Middle East, the Balkans, eastern Europe and central Asia.
Among key themes being addressed are:
Economic convergence between the EU15 and the 10 new member states
"Euroscepticism" in the "new Europe" and the fate of the Constitution
The new security agenda and EU-US relations after Iraq
The Middle East peace process
The Barcelona Process
EU-Iran relations
EU-Russia; Ukraine; Belarus
The EU in Trans-Dniester's "frozen conflict"
The role of the EU in the Caucasus region and beyond
The "Europeanisation" of the Western Balkans
Turkey's EU membership negotiations
Registration fee ($695*/euro695) covers 25 seminars, bed and breakfast,three excursions, teaching materials, library and internet access.
*The $ fee represents a signifcant discount on the normal fee of euro695.
