Professor Meltem Müftüler-Baç will offer a joint, co-taught course together with the University of Pennsylvania, one of the 8 Ivy League institutions in the USA, in Fall 2019. The course is titled: Security and Anxiety at International Borders: Turkey and the USA in Global Perspective together with Professor Beth Simmons, a renowned scholar specializing in international law and politics. The Penn Global Seminar will be taken by Penn students and Sabanci students together in Fall 2019 in their home institutions, but will involve online joint lectures and student co-assignments. The seminar will conclude with field research and joint teaching activities to be held on Sabanci campus in Istanbul where the faculty members and UPenn students will spend two weeks in January 2020. In addition, Professor Müftüler-Baç will be a Visiting Scholar at the Perry World House. Professor Müftüler-Baç’s activities-both with physical and virtual presence- under this position will enable cooperation schemes between Sabancı University and a leading global university, University of Pennsylvania.
